Dear Neighbor and Area Stakeholder:
Last night, multiple residents reported a late model “black” Honda private vehicle traveling at high speed North & South on the Elysian Valley pedestrian bike path-placing folks on the path in serious danger of being struck and necessitating calls to 911.
Our stretch of the path has two unchecked access points at Ripple Pl adjacent to the 2 Freeway and at the South end adjacent to the Riverside Dr./Figueroa St. bridge.
This access points were previously addressed by both the NW and NC when addressing the theft of copper wire alongside the path and we were told that the access could not be secured for reasons related to emergency response vehicle access need.
We call on Councilmember O’Farrell, LAPD, LA Fire, MRCA, FOLAR and other stakeholder to help give this issue the urgent attention it deserves to avoid lamenting a tragedy that could otherwise be avoided.
In view of the above, and until such time as this security/safety issue is resolved please be aware of your surrounding at all times and don’t hesitate to call 911.
Please be alert for any suspicious criminal activity on your block and don’t hesitate to call 911 to report. Better you call a false alarm than to not call what may very well be a crime in progress. Know that you can contact police and request to remain anonymous. You too can request that they call you back with a status report on the criminal activity you report. If a victim of a crime, please remember to file a police report in person at the San Fernando Rd. Station. The day is coming when we will be able to do so on-line from the comfort of our own home computer. Know that No report=No Crime, which in turn equals no police resources to EV. Thank you for doing your part.
