LA River Pedestrian/Bike Path Meeting tomorrow (Wed. 17, 2012).

Dear Neighbors and Area Stakeholders:

Please attend LA River Pedestrian/Bike Path Meeting tomorrow (Wed. 17, 2012).

Location: 70’s (2770 Newell St.)/Blake Ave.

Time:      7 PM

We will plan the education/information outreach on the LA-River Path to promote the “shared use of the path” to combat the continued incidents involving the cycling community and EV pedestrian traffic.  The tentative action dates are Nov. 3 & 4, following Halloween week.  I look forward to seeing as many of you as can attend and thank you in advance.

  1. As a bicyclist I understand the need for safety in the area, I would like to suggest that the posted “Entering Elysian Valley a Shared Path” signs should be posted lower. I only recently noticed them as I looked up when passing them, I feel like they would be seen more if they were “bicycle” height. Thank you, I love the Elysian Vally end of the LA River bike path and have been riding every morning!

    • Thank you for the comment. Yes, we need continued efforts in communicating pedestrian/ bike path safety. I’m sure signage will be a topic tonight. It was our original thinking to have the signs higher to prevent vandalism. We will discuss further. Please stay in contact.

    • Thank you Cathi for your much valued recommendation. The height of the signage is solely for vandalims purposes. As you have likely noted, the smaller “yield to peds” signs, which were placed at eye level have all been defaced. We had a great meeting this past Wedneday. Stay tuned for the posting of minutes and the following improvement efforts. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying the path.
