Subject: Please help spread the word about the Green City Challenge

There are only five days left to submit an idea for the TreePeople 2012
Green City Challenge. We’d be very grateful if you would share this
opportunity with your network and help us get the word out to as many people
as possible!

One major way you can help is by sharing the following message with any
community members that you know might be interested in receiving a greening

“Know an LA street, school, or park that’s in need of greening? Have an idea
that the community can participate in? TreePeople can help make it reality
by donating $5,000 worth of services (including $500 in cash) through the
TreePeople 2012 Green City Challenge.

Any person or group in LA County can apply, and the application is quick and
simple. To apply, all you need to do is upload a photo (or video, if you
prefer) of the area you’d like to transform and write a blurb explaining how
a $5,000 value award can bring your vision for that space to fruition.

Requirements for projects? They just need to involve a solution that
TreePeople supports, examples being planting or caring for trees,
water-conserving plants, mulch, and rainwater capture. That could mean
anything from replacing a grass lawn with a native garden, to planting a
public fruit orchard, to harvesting rainwater. ANY spot in L.A. County is
fair game.

The catch? There is none! But the deadline to apply is only 5 days away, on
June 25th. Public voting will run from June 25th through July 14th, and the
winner will be announced by July 20th. The idea with the most votes wins.
Ideas can be submitted here :

We really appreciate your help in spreading the word, and for everything
that you do for Los Angeles.

All the best,

  1. Another case of “A DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT”. First the Bus Driver Interviews and now the Tree People 2012 Green City Challenge. It would be nice to be informed about an event before it was over.
